We had a wonderful time at Casa Madina!
Casa Madina

We had a wonderful time at Casa Madina! The house was well stocked with everything we needed, the pool was great to cool off in after a day in the city, and the views from the rooftop patio were amazing! The hosts were very accommodating to our requests and responded extremely quickly. As some reviews have noted, there is a decent climb up some steep hills to get to the house. However, we found some stairs off the roads that made the walk up much more enjoyable! Overall, I would highly recommend the house and would definitely stay there again!

I can't say anough about the beautiful home that we stayed in.
Casa Madina

I can't say anough about the beautiful home that we stayed in. We had everything we needed in our home including utensils pots and pans, distilled water, towels, etc. The house lived up to our expectations and more. Be prepared for an uphill walk to get there or taking an Uber. When we got to the home we were immediately greeted With a friendly smile and a cold beer. The rooftop is absolutely gorgeous and the pool was nice and refreshing. We loved having a very thorough and detailed the book letting us know good places to go to get things that we needed and restaurant tips. This home was the perfect size for us and our 3 children. Thanks so much to Matt and Dean!!!!

We packed up and left!
Casita Madina

When we first arrived we were greeted and everything looked great (other than the hill)! Shortly after Miguel left we noticed water jug was empty. I emailed the building manager about the water and we went back and forth. I found the binder on the kitchen table which was loaded with good information. This was when we realized we were short a bath mat and a beach towel so I added that to my email. After 2 days, the building manager arrived by cab with water and gave us the linens we're missing.
Our first night we crawled in the comfy bed with great linens and crashed. In the middle of the night we were awoken by various dogs in the neighborhood barking. I'm not a light sleeper and the a/c was running. This continued EVERY night. One morning there was even 3 piles of dog poop at the door.
On our 7th evening we came home to find there was no water. No sink, toilet or shower. About 8am the next morning I could hear the toilet tank filling. Around 9:30am I went for a shower and there was no hot water. When we came home from the beach there was no water again! We tried contacting the building manager and also went through Air B&B. The response we got was it was a municipal issue and out of their hands. This being the week of New Years Eve, PV was 97 % booked according to the hotel apps. Rooms were starting at $300 a night and we still needed 5 nights! We packed up and left!
In the end we received a partial refund, which did not cover the expense of new accommodations, the groceries we left behind or the additional meals we had to purchase. The hill to get to the casita was crazy steep, noisy at night and multiple water issues. Certainly not a place for a relaxing vacation!

Response:

I'm sorry your vacation and stay at our home was not what you had hoped for. We clarified about the hill in the description, including that we normally take taxis back up as it is a big hill. Pictures of the house also show the house as level and the road angle.

I'm not sure what happened with the missing bath mat and beach towel, and will followup with our manager. Two days is not acceptable for that turn around.

The issues about the dogs is one we can't help. We also clarified in the listing that there are several dogs in the neighborhood that are allowed to roam the neighborhood. Although they don't usually bark, that is an expected possibility.

The big issue was the water. The city municipal supply (Seapal) told our manager that the demand in the city was too high and that the water was not making it up the hill. They were working to rectify it, but did not have a time. Our manager was working through possible solutions, including bringing over large water bottles to provide some relief. We also looked into a water truck or other options. From the time Michelle contacted us to when they left was a matter of a few hours. After leaving, Michelle sent a note demanding her money back for the nights that she left and we agreed and refunded her.

We understand that no one wants their vacation interrupted, but since we are not onsite, we need to be told that there is an issue shortly after it occurs, not a couple of days later.

To address the water issue, we have added a second 2500 liter water tank on the roof and are working to get a larger tank buried under the entrance area to the Casita (but that will have to be done when no one is staying there).

This is a great place!
Casa Madina

This is a great place!
Once we got over the shock of being waaaaay up the very steep hill, we settled in nicely.
The whole house is great, and it worked well for our whole family. The pool upstairs was a blessing. The view is amazing and we had Christmas dinner on the rooftop patio!!!
The beds were comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed.
We had a great time!

The location was very good.
Casa & Casita

I want to thank our host for allowing us to use your home. The location was very good. We did had to park our rental far away from the home because the 3 hills were slippery and even trucks kept sliding down. Gaby was very attentive and helpful. My only issue is that the home was not clean. The tub was a little slippery and the bed sheets had a very bad and dirty smell. The downstairs was also very dirty, Gaby sent someone to clean it up on the third day of our visit. My real only issue has to do with all the dust and lack of cleanliness. The host communicated in a timely manner.

Very clean and recently updated space
Casita Madina

Very clean and recently updated space. The bathroom is very spacious with a large shower. Cute little kitchen with a brand new gas stove. Great for 1 person or a couple to share. Beautiful views from the rooftop. Unfortunately couldn’t use the pool since it had a leak and kept draining out.

Casa Madina

My family and I enjoyed our stay at casa Madina despite several things going wrong during our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bedrooms are spacious with good sized bathrooms. It’s a 15 minute walk to the beach and some of the best shops and restaurants. The views from the roof top are stunning! Unfortunately we couldn’t use the pool during our stay since it seemed to have a leak and was constantly draining out. We also didn’t have hot water for most of our stay and the city had shut off all running water for a few days for maintenance. Hopefully these issues will be fixed for future guests.
